Unless the Department of Transportation is some sort of evil corporation and has a zombie formula that brings projects back to life, Green Streets is dead…again.
What killed the project this second time? It wasn’t any gunshots to the zombie head, it was a statement by John Quaglione the Press Secretary for Senator Marty Golden in response to “Are we Being Lied To?”
I wish to respond to the recent postings on this website, following a press story that has caused speculation among Gerritsen Beach residents, that the Greenstreets Project has not been officially been removed from consideration. I wish to inform you that this speculation is unwarranted and not true.
As the District Manager and Press Secretary for Senator Marty Golden, I wish to reiterate that from the very beginning of this project, Senator Golden and the other area elected officials have maintained that the community was to decide if this project was to happen. As a result of the meeting, Senator Golden and other elected officials, along with the Department of Transportation, have officially agreed to no longer consider this plan for Gerritsen Avenue.
I thought it was necessary to respond so that this message board can receive an official position from Senator Golden’s office and that the community can move ahead. Please be assured that Senator Golden is respectful of the wishes of the residents of Gerritsen Beach.

In reference to the meeting it is interesting how senator golden shows up 30 minutes late. Completely unprepared, starts telling us numerous traffic lights which is untrue and now his staff claims to know exactly what is happening with the greenstreets.
It is interesting to see how disrespectfull he can be to us by leaving us all waiting for him. I’m sure he wouldn’t leave people in his beloved Bay Ridge waiting.
Golden has forgotten who got him elected, it was the people in our community. This is a result of him having it too easy with no primaries or general elections. He is now taking us for granted, I think it is about time we found somebody to run against him who will be more concerned about our needs.

How did you get pictures of the kids of Gerritsen Beach running from burning the air field? They must have just finished breaking all the trees in half.
Hey, in regards to Greenstreets, the kids would kill all the plants anyway, just check the park out so let’s put more trees in the middle of the block so they can crack them in half as they speed by. Great thinking!
