The other night right on Seba Avenue four tires were stolen from a 2003 honda civic right on seba avenue. This is the first time i’ve ever heard of this happening.
Coming in via e-mail:
I have only lived in Gerritsen Beach for a year now but my husband grew up here. Last night, we had 4 tires and rims stolen from our 2003 Honda Civic on Seba Avenue. When our neighbor returned home he saw a black car (he believes it was lowered) parked on the side of his house; the trunk was open with two tires in it. He didn’t put two and two together until this morning.
I’m not sure if anyone knows anything but any information would be helpful. Either contact the police or email me.

What a bunch of scumbags. I mean really did they really need tires for a civic that badly. We should put a picture of your tires on the back of a milk carton and see if we can find them, but seriously what is this neighborhood comming to.
I blame the fact that no one tosses their kids a beating anymore, and just gives in and tries to talk to your kids and all that other psycho-babble bullshit. From now on we need to just smack our kids in the face if they do something wrong.

I bet that kids did this shit. I swear, I hate kids sometimes.
The following quote is hilarious: “From now on we need to just smack our kids in the face if they do something wrong.”

This is amazing, no one sees anything, hears anything, it’s horrible. In our part of the neighborhood, we all look out for each other’s property. If wesee something that doesn’t seem right we check it out. We get along great with our neighbors and they know when we are home and when we aren’t and vice versa and if something seems out of whack we check it out. More neighbors need to be involved with each others.

I have lived in GB all my life, what is this place coming too. I had more to say but I deleted it as people might find it offensive.

Beware – I have heard from a few people that quite a few cars have been broken into recently in the beach.
I fell victim to this about 2 years ago TWICE – once the little b*stards STOLE the car but we luckily got it back thanks to someone seeing them almost crash by Dunkin Donuts and called the cops. Don’t ask how they were able to drive off with it. The other punk was caught red-handed in my car and was held hostage till his family picked him up. Not from the area, I might add but his friends were. The other two who took the car were from here and I know who they were.

I can’t beleive that no one heard a sound!! Anytime a car pulls up in front of my house, or my neighbors, I look out the window. I do not care if I’m considered nosey, I’d rather be nosey & not lose property than sit inside & let stuff happen.
A few years ago we had a lot of cars hanging out by our corner ( smoking pot etc) and my neighbor (who was a cop) would need to walk his dog, which seemed to send the message to get off the corner. We still have a few stragglers who try parking on our block & the first thing we do if a car parks & no one exits is to turn on the outside lights, it seems to get the message out there.
One of the best things about living in the beach, taking care of each other.

I totally agree with sexton hardcastle!!!!!!!!! And with ph2072…enough is enough lets control these little devils. Parents be aware of your children’s whereabouts and their friends lets ban together and get some control back

I repeat they are not kinds, they are bunch of scumbags. Now this person has to spend money on tires, tow truck and time that’s its going to take away from him to do all this.
I hope I just hope one day I will catch those sons of bitches….instead of helping their parents or get a real hobby. Punks destroy people’s property..

Check with neighbors for cameras…the Vollies have one. I’m not sure if it points your way & who knows if it’s taped but it’s worth a try. We had a car on our block broken into the other night (early evening). When my neighbor found it, he went to our other neighbor who has cameras on his house & they saw that 2 girls not more than 16 years old had been up & down the block trying every car door & were even in driveways. Nobody heard a thing…

Can you send the cop and his dog to my corner? I have a white car park on my corner every few nights. All of a sudden kids and some fathers start to walk over, get in the car for a while then leave. Now what do YOU think is going on.

Tiggergirl,
Make yourself known. If you have porchlights turn them on. copy down license plates. We had a big problem a few years ago and I started collecting license plates.
We had an incident of 2 cars on different corners & people walking up to them (I’m sure if was to give directions) & I suggested from across the street in a darkened area so I would not be seen (I’m not completely stupid) they take their business elsewhere.
The biggest problem I see in the beach is there is no police presences whatsoever. The only time I see a police car is when the guy down the block stops home for dinner.
I’ne been advised to keep quiet as we do not want broken windows, flat tires etc. since some of the stuff that goes on is from minors but my new mantra is, if something is not right outside your house pick up the phone & dial 911. Enough calls will get the message through that we want a police presence & maybe we’ll start seeing the 61 driving down the courts from time to time just to see what’s happening.
The old addage of keep your mouth shut, don’t rat is fine when your in grammar school & someone pinches a pack of gum but when people are damaging property or selling drugs or stealing tires its time to speak up.
911 is your friend.

checking out the neighbors for cameras won’t help if nothing is done after.
I can not believe NOT ONE PERSON knows who the kid in the snowman video is.
there was the camera, the proof & so what? what is being done about it? Is someone who knows who this kid is going to point out the videoto his parents or just call him names on a web site?

If it were my kid and the video were pointed out to me, I’d confront my kid, but there are parents that have the “who gives a sh*t” attitude with the “big deal it was a snowman”, b-crap.
Catching a little b*stard on tape stealing tires or ruining a bus shelter? Now that would be worth opening a can of whoop-ass!

If u think the 61 cops will come down here after being called pig and having eggs and potatoes at them on Halloween u can forget it. And besides they have better things to do than babysit someones kids.

I’m sure the 61 would love to come down & bust chops (a little payback for the nonsense they put up with) True the parents need to reign in the kids but have them written up for every little infraction & eventualy most parents will get the hint & start paying attention to their kids.
After all most “experts” would probably claim the kids are being destructive to get their parents attention.

Why is everyone so hellbent on believing that a kid did this? Kids are always getting the blame around here. Granted–there are a lot of unruly kids in GB–but there are PLENTY of unruly adults around too. Of course, it is entirely possible that kids did this–but don’t scape goat the entire underage population of Gerritsen Beach into a corner. It could have been anyone-kid, adult, GBer, nonGBer, who stole the tires. Maybe it was a deliberate target against the car owner — that’s a flashy car. Who knows? It is all speculation at this point.
Personally, I don’t think a child dismantled four tires off of a Civic and then carried them off in the middle of the night. I’m guessing it was someone who owns a car–putting them around 17 or 18– and someone who knows how to do it.
I DO agree that there is a lack of police presence in GB. Seba Ave is a major, well-lit street in GB—not some dark dead-end court. I don’t know too much about removing tires, but I’m guessing it would have to take at least an hour or two for someone to take off four tires, in the dark, without proper tools, and get away. Not one cop car or other car passed by in a hour and noticed something shady was going on? Kind of ridiculous.

Ginger, stop being so defensive. Its a well known fact that the GB kids are trouble makers. Why don’t you hire private police department to babysit for you, no babushka?

Thank you for everyone’s concern. I just want to set something straight…at least one of the perps who stole the tires were 17 (or older) b/c they were driving a car. It doesn’t take very long to take off all four tires if you know what you are doing; less than an hour.
Also, this happened around midnight, so not only could we not be watching out because we were sleeping, our neighbors (except the one noted above) were either out or also asleep. The cameras available do not scan the area where my car was parked.
As far as we know, this was not personal. Honda tires (and other parts) are extremely universal and can be used on numerous brands. It’s a good chance that the tires were taken for personal use.

You are the victim of a crime. The criminal who stole your tires is a lowlife, yes probably from GB. E1 here always prides the neighborhood as being a good one with no outsiders right? So who the hell would have the balls to come here and take tires off a Honda Civic on Seba Ave right next to the GB fire Dept? Obviously someone who knows the makings of the area. We suspect they are kids…around 18 maybe? NOT UNDERAGE. Take off your glasses e1 and see that you are living in a white trash dump, this is GB not Manhattan Beach.

@Mike, Yeh Idk about all of that Mike I am Russian and know many Russians and with all do respect most of us are more mannered then people like you that like to corner certain nationalities, instead of stereotyping us Russians into being the ones that steal GB peoples tires you should learn a little bit more about these vandals. I am not talking out of my ass either I have a 08 infiniti g37s which is currently in the shop for the same thing the night before at 2:30am I heard noises looked out the window and saw a young looking black male and another black male rolling my tires down the road and before I got out there with my bat they were gone with all four tires and rims and broke my window as well. So please stop being so close minded and after living through this horrible experience I learned through actual research that this is happening a lot to cars now a days and for your info its mostly hispanics and blacks that do this. Have a good day Mike lol
