OK people, what do you think? Always have to have the few typical ignorants in the crowd. I was a little dismayed that DOT did not do their homework with regards to Emergency Vehicles. There is no way, no way at all, emergency vehicles could get through or around other cars that may be stalled, double parked or whatever. What about the truck deliveries? While I applaud the Politicans for getting the money for this project, it just won’t work. The Avenue is not wide enough. If we could get a few lights, stop signs, better lighting, more police presence with that money, we would do fine. The part about the school looked good. Again, 400 + students in PS277, there just is no room for the cars. You can complain all you want about double parking but parents are not going to park 20 blocks away to get their kid to school, it’s just not fair. We are a very unique community. I was thinking if we put those “Bowling Pins” in the some of those striped out areas, maybe that would stop the people from riding up the middle of the avenue. At least the fire dept could run them down if they had to. Just thinking out loud.
what we really need to do is redesign our neighborhood streets so that kids can safely walk and ride their bikes to PS277. that ought to solve the double-parking problem. it also might help make sure that our kids stay healthier.
