As we all now know the Foursome Diner is closed and just in case you didn’t know its going to reopen at that Chinese Buffet on Nostrand and Z, next to the Banco Popular.
Both locations have signs up promoting Kouros (386 Nostrand Avenue) opening in the spring.

On the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Avenue Z, which used to be some kind of Chinese buffet, and prior to that — many moons ago — the Pavilion Diner, has a sign on its window advertising that it will re-open in the spring as the “Kouros Diner…formerly the Foursome Diner on Bragg Street & Avenue U.”

There was a diner in that spot many many years ago. I’m glad to see a diner return.

They opened today and my husband and I went for a late breakfast, around noonish. It was crowded, but there were tables available and we didn’t have to wait. By the time we finished, there were lines waiting to get in. We used to go to the Foresome Diner, so it was wonderful seeing everyone again, including the waitstaff and busboys. We looked at the dinner menu, and it did get a little pricey, while some dinners are not too pricey. What can you do? Prices are going up everywhere. The lunch specials prices aren’t too bad, so my husband and I will do the “early bird” with lunch. And of course, if we want to go out for dessert, that’s where we will go. The best part of going to a diner the day they open is that everything went smoothly as far as the service goes. It’s the waitstaff that worked at the Foresome, so they are experienced and everyone was served in a speedy manner. WELCOME BACK!

My husband and I went to Kouros Diner today since waiting for what used to be Foursome Diner to open. Unlike Arlene’s comment, we were very, very disappointed, to say the least. We did not see the owners on “opening” day; the staff was not the same (perhaps because it was dinner time, really don’t know); the service was terribly slow (and it was not crowded); the menu with the complimentary wine, soup or appetizer, etc., was very confusing; we had to ask for the water after the waiter offered it to us (he forgot), embarrasingly we had to as for the bread basket and straws for the drinks; the presentation of the food was awful and…. the shrimp parmagiana sucked! The tail end of the shrimp was breaded, fried and served and covered with the cheese and the shrimp itself was solid as a rock. Ewe! My first bite was of the shrimp shell. My husband asked for a medium cheeseburger without anything else. They served him an “extra” (burnt) well done cheeseburger with fries and onion rings, none of which he specifically did not ask for. The wine was served in a mini wine glass and… knowing that we were not pleased with the service, we were charged an arm and a leg. This was NOT the service we received at the Foursome Diner. I doubt if they are the same owners, especially since the matr’d had to explain to us that it was opening day and things happen. You don’t expect to hear that from previous owners.

I always enjoyed the foursome dinner and it’s staff, but this new Kouros dinner had the worse service. The waitress couldn’t explain the menu, she brought back the wrong plate, the food was burned, The presentation was lousy and the bathroom was not clean. I will not go there again.

Kouros is great! I’m a picky orderer – like to substitute different bread or cheese on a sandwich or request an item that’s not even listed – and have never had a problem.

YOSSEL YOU’RE A YONKEL. OF ALL THINGS TO SAY. YOU’RE EMBARASSING ME AND I DON’T EVEN KNOW YOU. YOU THINK YOU’D REVIEW THE FOOD AND NOT THE BATHROOM. MAYBE YOU DIDN’T EAT THE FOOD BECAUSE IT’S NOT KOSHER. WAS THE BATHROOM KOSHER? I GUESS NOT FOR YOU.
