The 19-year-old son of a city firefighter, who was charged with a hate crime for allegedly beating two black men in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, last year, was involved in another attack over the weekend, police said.
Joseph Jirovec of Brooklyn was among a group who confronted four Jews wishing each other “Happy Chanukah” aboard a Q train in Brooklyn, police said.
“Chanukah is when the Jews killed Jesus,” police said the group yelled. The pack then began beating the Jews – two men and two women.
The 10 were arrested at the DeKalb Ave. station and charged with assault and unlawful assembly. The hate crimes task force is investigating. Among those arrested was Zachary Rogalski, 19, of Brooklyn, who was charged in a 2005 attack on several black youths in Marine Park
What does this have to do with Gerritsen Beach? Joseph Jirovec is the same guy who was involved in a hate crime last year and is again being charged in a second hate crime. This the hate crime involves four Jews celebrating Chanukah on a early morning Q train.

I agree 100% with you, he does not represent Gerritsen Beach as I am sure those girls who beat up the man on the train doesn’t represent her community. What’s with his father being a fire fighter? How come they never mention if the father is a Mail man, Sanitation worker, tranist worker or a useless crack head?

All I want to know is when is it not a hate crime ?
Today every assault that takes place these days is a hate crime because the aggressor says a derogatory remark about the other person.
I suppose if you are going to choose to engage in the act of beating the shit out of anyone you should at best keep your mouth shut while your beating their head in to avoid it being called a Hate Crime.

Historically Gerritsen Beach Has held the record for being the only ALL WHITE COMMUNITY IN BROOKLYN NEW YORK & we the Residents & Property owners were dam proud of keeping that record and the undesirables out .
Think back to the 70′s & the 80′s and tell me what might have happened if a black man even thought about walking down the ave no else try to move into the neighborhood. The people who enforced these sort of efforts were the Parents & Grand Parents of 95% of the Residents Of Gerritsen Beach & all of these same kids were calling no good so don’t be shocked because their the same people who raised you & your parents
To Gerritsen Girl, Joseph Jirovec may not represent Gerritsen beach but him & his friends are just a product of what was just & right back in the day around here ….

Not every crime these days is a “hate crime.” people get assaulted for many reasons: for wearing expensive jewelry, because someone wants your wallet, for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, for looking at someone the wrong way, for taking someone’s parking space, etc. The assault involving Jirovec was *motivated* by the religious affiliation of the victim.

Everyone is sitting here putting Joseph down, but has anyone taken a look at the video tapes provided above and I mean really taken a good look at them? These two guys and a girl are practically laughing at the camera as they tell there story and running from one camera to another trying to make a name for themselves (poor victims). There is more to this story then meets the eye. If anyone knows anything about the Jewish community they all stick together no matter what. This man stands in front of the camera and says his own people didn’t even come to his rescue, hmmmmmmmmmm I wonder why? Maybe they didn’t want to get involved because they knew what he was saying and doing was wrong? You know there are two sides to every story and so far you’ve only heard one. Yes, it’s a shame Joseph is caught again in the middle of a bias situation but if your white and don’t fit into certain faiths and race you will be charged with a bias crime. It’s so easy for someone to say he said this or that which makes it bias and there is no proof that this was even said just the people making those accusations. Why didn’t more people on that train come forward? How come only one person? Did anyone ask these questions. They said this train was full of people. I only met Joseph once or twice but I can say he is a good kid and does have a heart. He’s not the type to get into a fight for no reason, he really needs to be pushed to his limit before he raises his hands. People in this neighborhood should sit down and have a normal conversation with him and spend time with him as well. You will be surprised about your opinion’s afterwards. Does anyone writing actually know anything about him probably not. This kid has gone through enough in the last three years and he has more responsibilities on his plate then most adults. All I can say when you walk in his shoe’s then you can have an opinion.

This is the biggest bunch of bullshit ive ever seen in my life. I know all of the kids involved personally and I know for a fact that they would never just go around hitting people unless provoked. They didnt just walk over to these people and start hitting them for no reason, the guy on the train had to have said something or make a remark towards the kids to have them do that.
