The children of Gerritsen beach do need a place to express themselves' in a way that is safe and entertaining to them . But there is the problem . We only have the one civil group that is recognized my the city as the official spokes group for Gerritsen beach and that's the property owners . As good as they are and I do think they try their best for Gerritsen beach . It is a enormous task and one that would take up all they time . As you may know we once had the teen dances in the church and then a teen club was formed that met in the court club . This club took the teen to dances , bowling , ski trips and more . They did so well for themselves' that they ended buying several buildings on the Ave and knocking them down in hopes of building they own place . Unfortunately their plans fell through and now there is a fish place there . I learned just recently that after seeing his son on CNN one of the fathers rented a store on the ave and put up a ring so that his son and his friends could wrestle safely . Some of his rules included no drinking , no drugs ,no weapons inside or outside of the ring and don't disturb anyone . This lasted about a year then between the rent ,the utility' and insurance it got to be to much for him . We have a lot of good people in the beach , we should be able to come up with something for our children before its to late . Maybe if we ask the birds nicely they're share some of the land with us before its our children who will be on the endangered species list . P.S. tracy was the Park Taven To GB resident

You"ll see ball player peeing on tree’s and fences . Bus loads of kids blocking our now narrow Ave. Running their engines and polluting our air and who do you think cleans up there garbage ? not them , not the park dept . once again it Gerritsen beach to the rescue . As for proof that the wildlife will adapt look at the Red Tailed Hawk that's Living on the side of a high rise building in the upper east side of Manhattan I wouldn't call that the best conditions for a Red Tailed Hawk but Their Surviving & with their Off Spring just fine. By the way did you know that we have Owls living in Manhattan too - yep the city let them loose to loose to lower the rodent problem. I would consider that to be less than perfect conditions for an owl but they have adapted pretty well over the past 20 or so years there. We need more recreation for our children here & the fields are the perfect place to allow the residents & any other Common Man who wants to go Fishing, Golfing, Four Wheeling, or even Wrestling without being Hassled & Fined by Law Enforcement. The real issue here is the quality of life for the people or is drinking & getting drunk or selling or doing drugs more appealing for our children. The Wildlife we speak of in the back weeds as amazing as they may be are no endangered species & will not seize to exist if a few kids want to smash florescent bulbs over their heads or one of our kids wants to take a blast down one of the trails with their Dirt Bike or Quad.
