If you look to the western side of the channel leading into Sheepshead Bay, the shoreline is beginning to extend out from Kingsborough’s shoal underwater. You can see the sandy bottom under the water.
The photo merely underscores the need for the mouth of the Bay, and Sheepshead Bay itself, to be dredged so that the navigable channels may be maintained. The Sheepshad Bay / Plumb Beach Association has worked with Assemblyman Cymbrowitz for some time in order to find out who is responsible for maintaining the channels in the Bay and at the mouth of the Bay – resulting in many agencies denying responsibility, but none claiming jurisdiction over such matters.
