Scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23rd 2007 in the Brooklyn Cyclone’s Keyspan Park parking lot.
There is always great bands playing along with great food and drinks. There is also usually rides and games for the kids.
If you remember the 2006 Great Irish Fair was canceled by Margaret Keaveney, director of communications for Catholic Charities. She had said that a lack of organizers and volunteers caused the group to re-think its efforts.
We here at GerritsenBeach.Net are going to go to the fair, but just as an excuse to drink Guinness.

I received confirmation today that the Irish festival will take place the weekend of September 22-23.
There was none last year due to Catholic Charities inability to farner support in a timely manner.
I was involved in the Great Irish Fair two years ago and at that time Catholic Charities had trouble managing the fair.
I wish them well.

Yes, indeed, it is on and it will be a terrific event. It’s no longer in the hands of Catholic Charities but is being sponsored by the Irish American Building Society. Here, check out this link:

Don’t anyone believe for a second that a lack of interested parties could or would tank a fair like this. On with the show, and we’ll see you there!

That Catholic Charities couldn’t manage the fair is baloney. That there wasn’t enough interest last year is baloney too. C.C. nixed the Fair in order to fire long-term employees who organized it (and thus nix their pending pensions?). After all, money is needed for various legal defense funds, perhaps. Thus the closing of schools as well, with the bogus excuse that there isn’t enough interest/enrollment in them either. The Fair always paid for itself, and I’m sure it will go on doing so. Congrats to the I.A.B.S.
