Beach Quality and Safety

If you want to see the water quality before you head out to the local beaches, go to the NYC Beach Quality and Safety site.

There you can check for any advisories that would keep you safe from bacteria due to Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO’s) and stormwater runoff.

People with underlying medical conditions, young and elderly people may be more likely to get sick if beach water is swallowed.

The Wet Weather Advisory means that swimming and bathing are not recommended
